Iyotetsu Day Pass & Fares: Streetcar Prices in Matsuyama

There Are 3 Steps; the Adult Fare Is 250 Yen (230 Yen with IC)

1. Board through the door marked “Entrance.” You do not pay when boarding.
2. Press the stop button as your stop approaches.
3. Pay at the fare box when you get off. Nationwide transit IC cards such as Suica and ICOCA can be used.

The fare is flat: 250 yen for adults and 130 yen for children in cash, or 230 yen for adults and 120 yen for children with cashless payment. No change is given, so passengers paying in cash should use the changer on the fare box before inserting money.

How to Ride: Board Through the “Entrance” Door and Pay When You Get Off

Wait until the tram has come to a complete stop, then put cash into the fare box or tap your IC card on the card reader. Follow the “Entrance” and “Exit” signs inside the tram and at the stop.

Fares and Payment: Cash, Change and IC Cards

Fares became flat on 2026-04-01. The child fare is half the adult fare, rounded up to the nearest 10 yen.

Notes for paying in cash (Iyotetsu, “How to Ride Trains and Buses”):

• The changer can be used at either the front or the rear of the tram.
• The changer does not accept 10,000-yen or 5,000-yen notes.

To receive the disability discount, you must show a disability certificate (Iyotetsu, “FAQ”).

Fares for Children and Young Children

The rules by age are as follows (official Iyotetsu information).

• Adult: junior high school age and older
• Child: elementary school age (6 and older but under 12). Half the adult fare (rounded up to the nearest 10 yen)
• Young child: 1 and older but under 6. Up to 2 ride free per accompanying adult or child. From the 3rd child, and when young children ride without an accompanying person, the child fare applies
• Infant: under 1. Free

Fares for suburban trains and buses vary by section, so check the “Tram & Bus Fare and Timetable Search System” (https://www.iyotetsu.co.jp/rosen/).

The rule that up to 2 young children ride free per accompanying person applies to trains and local buses. Highway buses are excluded; on express and limousine buses, up to 1 young child per accompanying person rides free (Iyotetsu, “Tickets and Discounts,” checked 2026-10-23).

Cashless Payment with Suica, ICOCA and Other Cards

You can pay when getting off not only in cash but with the following cashless methods (Iyotetsu, “Tickets and Discounts,” checked 2026-10-23).

• Nationwide transit IC cards (ICOCA, Suica, Mobile ICOCA and others)
• Mican App (requires a smartphone contracted with a Japanese phone number)

These methods give a cashless discount of 20 yen for adults and 10 yen for children (for example, 250 yen becomes 230 yen). The Botchan Train is not eligible for the discount.

Iyotetsu's own IC card, “IC I-Card,” ended all services on 2025-09-30.

The ALL SHIKOKU Rail Pass Cannot Be Used

The “ALL SHIKOKU Rail Pass” for visitors to Japan cannot be used on Iyotetsu city trams or suburban trains. It is valid on Kotoden (Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railroad) in Kagawa Prefecture and Tosaden Kotsu in Kochi Prefecture.

Routes and Main Stops: Dogo Onsen, JR Matsuyama Station Front, Matsuyama-shi Station and Okaido

On the Iyotetsu route map, 2 lines go to Dogo Onsen.

• Line 3: Matsuyama-shi Station – Okaido – Dogo Onsen
• Line 5: JR Matsuyama Station Front – Okaido – Dogo Onsen

According to Iyotetsu's “How to Get to Dogo Onsen,” from JR Matsuyama Station Front, take No. 5 (JR Matsuyama Station Front Line) bound for Dogo Onsen Station for about 25 minutes with no transfer; from Matsuyama-shi Station, take No. 3 (Matsuyama-shi Station Line) for about 20 minutes. The fare is the flat city tram fare (checked 2026-10-23).

In addition to regular trams, the sightseeing “Botchan Train” also runs on the city tram network.

Transfers at Dogo Onsen Station and the 1-Day Ticket

If you travel round trip between Matsuyama Airport and Dogo Onsen on the same day and also ride the city tram, the “City Tram and Limousine Bus 1-Day Ticket” is useful.

Overview of the “City Tram and Limousine Bus 1-Day Ticket”:

• Price: 2,300 yen for adults / 1,150 yen for children
• Eligible routes: All city tram lines (excluding the Botchan Train), the Matsuyama Airport Limousine Bus and the Matsuyama Kanko Port Limousine Bus
• Sales format: Digital ticket only (no paper tickets are sold; purchase through the Mican App or the Jorudan “Norikae Annai” app)
• Benefit: 1 ride on a regular gondola of the Iyotetsu Takashimaya Ferris wheel “Kururin” for 500 yen per person (the see-through gondola is excluded)

A one-way limousine bus between Matsuyama Airport and Dogo Onsen Station costs 1,200 yen in cash or 1,180 yen cashless. A round trip costs 2,360–2,400 yen. If you make the round trip on the same day, the 1-Day Ticket (2,300 yen) is cheaper and also includes city tram rides.

When getting off with a digital ticket, show the valid ticket screen on your smartphone to the driver.

Onboard Manners, Luggage and Lost Items

• When moving inside the tram, do not block the path of other passengers.
• A large backpack can block the aisle if worn on your back, so carry it in your hand or hold it in front of you.
• Do not place wet rain gear or large luggage on the seats.
• When the tram is crowded, do not stand near the doors; move toward the back of the tram.

To collect an item, bring identification showing your address and name and a personal seal. Lost items are held for a set period and then sent to the police station with jurisdiction.
