Funaya

A long-established Dogo ryokan said to have been founded in the Kan'ei era. Natsume Soseki and Masaoka Shiki are said to have stayed here, and it is known for its seasonal garden.

Dogo Onsen Honkan

Dogo hakuro

A hotel in Dogo Onsen that opened in 2020. It is about a 5-minute walk from Dogo Onsen Station and has a large natural hot spring bath with an open-air bath, along with contemporary guest rooms.

Yuge no Ya

Yuge no Ya opened in November 2025 in Dogo Haikara-dori. It is a shop selling taiyaki and post-bath sweets. It is located in a composite building on the site of the former Kadobanponpo.

Minshuku Mikan

A room-only guesthouse along the pilgrimage route by Ishite-ji Temple. It has a shared kitchen and coin laundry, suiting pilgrims and long stays.

Enman-ji Temple

A temple near Dogo Onsen. It is known for its white-painted Yu-no-Odaizoson, a Jizo statue about 3.67 meters tall said to have been made by the monk Gyoki, and it preserves legends connected to Dogo's hot springs.

Taneda Santoka Haiku Monument (Choken-ji Temple)

A haiku monument at Choken-ji Temple in Miyuki, Matsuyama. It commemorates Taneda Santoka (1882–1940), a poet of free-form haiku. Santoka spent his final years at the hermitage Isso-an in Matsuyama, where he died.

Iwaidani Park

Tonma

A seafood restaurant near Dogo Onsen Honkan, popular for red sea bream shipped direct from the Shimanami area, Uwajima-style raw sea bream rice, and kamameshi.

Kadoya Dogo Tsubakizaka

Kadoya Dogo Tsubakizaka is a local cuisine restaurant in Dogo Yunomachi. It is a Kadoya Group restaurant offering the flavors of Uwajima, and operates in the Dogo Onsen area with tai-meshi as its signature dish.

Isaniwa Jinja Shrine

A Hachiman-zukuri style shrine set on a hill in Dogo. The existing shrine buildings were constructed in 1667 (Kanbun 7) by Matsudaira Sadanaga, lord of the Matsuyama Domain, and the main hall and other structures are designated National Important Cultural Properties.

Tsubaki-no-Yu Public Toilet

A public toilet inside Tsubaki-no-Yu, one of the public bathhouses of Dogo Onsen. Available to bathers and to those walking the surrounding area.

A brewery-direct shop located next to Minakuchi Shuzo's storehouse, inside Dogo Ichie. It handles sake straight from the brewery, souvenirs, and gifts, and also carries store-exclusive products.

Rairaitei Matsuyamadai Mae is a ramen chain restaurant with Kyoto-style soy sauce broth, located in Dogo Himata. It is open late at night.

Dogo Park (Playground) Public Toilet

CHAHARU Hanare, Dogo Yumekura

Yamatoya Besso

A traditional Japanese-style inn located in Dogo Sagidanicho. It features a granite public bath and a stone-built open-air bath, and serves the flavors of Setouchi through kaiseki cuisine. The capacity is 74 people.

A dining space on Shoninzaka in "Ura Dogo". It works as a cafe by day and a reservation-only restaurant in the evening, serving Japanese and French dishes.

Ganso Uwajima Taimeshi Gansui

Pasteleria Donkihote

A Western confectionery shop in Iwaidani. In business for about 30 years, it is known for its apple pie made with Kogyoku apples.

Hotel Tsubakikan Main Building

A hot spring inn about a 3-minute walk from Dogo Onsen Honkan. It has Japanese-style and Japanese-Western rooms as well as barrier-free rooms, and can take groups. The building has a Meiji-era retro character.

Dogo Onsen No.4 Bunyujo

A hot spring distribution facility that collects pumped spring water and sends it to each facility. Of the four hot spring distribution facilities in Dogo, this is the only facility where visitors can observe the water gathering, and it features a hand bath where you can touch the hot spring water of around 50 degrees.

Petit Madonna

A coffee shop in Dogo Yunomachi. It serves siphon-brewed coffee and Western-style light meals.

Haru Dogo Yunomachi

A restaurant in the Dogo Onsen area. Served dishes such as snapping turtle cuisine.

Iyotetsu Bus Dogo Onsen Ekimae

A bus stop of Iyotetsu Bus located in front of Dogo Onsen. It serves as a hub for access to various areas within Matsuyama city, as well as to the airport and JR Matsuyama Station.

Koto no Niwa

A wooden inn that opened in April 2020. All 10 rooms are equipped with hot spring baths flowing directly from the source of Dogo Onsen. The capacity is 32 people.

Matsuyama Taimeshi Akiyoshi Dogo

Located about 1 minute from Dogo Onsen Station, Matsuyama Taimeshi Akiyoshi Dogo is a local cuisine restaurant in the Dogo Onsen shopping street. It offered a comparison of Matsuyama tai-meshi cooked in a clay pot and raw Uwajima tai-meshi.

Gyokusendo Honpo

A Japanese confectioner founded in 1882 (Meiji 15). It makes onsen senbei shaped like a hoju jewel, and the salted Gyokusendo Ushio.

Yunomachi Bakery

A bakery near Dogo Onsen. It opens early in the morning and sells items such as salt bread with ice cream, mentaiko baguettes and raw doughnuts.

Hotel Luna Park

A hotel in Western-style architecture, which is unusual in the Dogo Onsen area. It is a 1-minute walk from Dogo Onsen Honkan and has 86 rooms.

Menkobo Harumi

Opened in June 2026 in the former location of Ramen NORI. It is a shop specializing in abura soba (oil noodles).

Suikodo

Suikodo is a kiln-direct shop for Tobe ware in the Dogo Onsen district. It operates as a direct outlet for Tobe ware, the traditional pottery of Ehime.

Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Dogo

A hot spring resort on high ground in Dogo. It has an open-air bath looking out over the night view of the town below Matsuyama Castle, and buffet-style meals.

Gyomu Super Dogo

Gyomu Super Dogo is located in Dogo Yunomachi. Commercial-sized products and frozen foods are available for purchase at reasonable prices.

Himawari Tei

Ishite-ji Temple

Ishite-ji Temple is a Shingon Buddhist pilgrimage temple, the 51st temple of the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage. It is known for its National Treasure, the Niō Gate, and is one of Matsuyama’s oldest temples, located near Dogo Onsen.

Saryo Hanakoji

A Japanese-style dining restaurant on the second floor of Dogo Onsen Chaharu. It features dining seats, private rooms, and a long counter in a space of approximately 270 tsubo, serving kaiseki course meals and a buffet.

Yu Jinja Shrine

A shrine on Kanmuriyama hill, revered as the guardian deity of Dogo Onsen. Its principal deities are Onamuchi-no-Mikoto and Sukunahikona-no-Mikoto. A legend tells that hot water which had stopped after an earthquake began to flow again through prayer.

Washoku Takanashi

A Japanese restaurant in the Dogo Ichiman area. It centres on set meals served at both lunch and dinner, such as tempura and sashimi sets.

Dogo Omiyage Center Kasuriya Honten

A souvenir shop in the Dogo Onsen district. It carries a wide range of goods, including Imabari towels, Mikyan and Bary-san merchandise, folk crafts such as kasuri textiles and hime-daruma, and Ehime foods.

Kawahigashi Hekigoto Haiku Monument (Dogo Park)

A haiku monument within Kawahigashi Hekigoto Kuhi Dogo Koen. It commemorates Kawahigashi Hekigoto (1873–1937), a poet from Matsuyama. Hekigoto was a disciple of Masaoka Shiki and known as an innovator who promoted the New Tendency haiku.

Dogo Onsen Tourist Information Center

A tourist information center located near Dogo Onsen Honkan. Open from 8:30 to 20:00, it handles coin lockers and baggage storage at the counter.

Ishitegawa Green Space (Iwazeki Bridge Area)

An area defined by Iwazeki-bashi, a red suspension bridge completed in the Taisho era. You can enjoy strolling and photography with the murmur of the river as background.

440 Kumo / 197 Oto

An antenna shop for Yusuhara in Kochi Prefecture and Ikata in Ehime Prefecture, on Shoninzaka in Dogo. It opened in 2024 and carries specialities and information from both towns.

7-Eleven Matsuyama Dogo Kitamachi

Don Lucas

A Western-style restaurant in Momijimachi, Matsuyama, along the Ichijo River. It is known for its hamburger steak, curry, and pudding.

Kotonoha Yubin

Kaparratino

Shirakyu

Myosei-ji Temple

Hatodo Honpo

Joshin-ji Temple

A Tendai Buddhist temple in Iwaidani-higashi-machi, Matsuyama. One of the four temples associated with the Hisamatsu-Matsudaira family, it was relocated to its present site in 1635 (Kan'ei 12) by Matsudaira Sadayuki. The grounds contain the mausoleum of Matsudaira Sadayuki, a designated Ehime Prefecture historic site.

Naito Meisetsu Haiku Monument

This haiku monument is in Dogo Park. It is inscribed with the verse "Mottozu ya itsuika no tenzi futai no yama". In 1918, former dormitory residents erected it as a longevity monument to celebrate the long life of the poet Naito Meisetsu (1847–1926).

Dogokan

A hot spring ryokan in Dogo known for its design by the architect Kisho Kurokawa. Japanese tradition and modern architecture are combined throughout.

Dogo Ichie

Sakai Mokuzen Haiku Monument (Matsuyama Shrine)

A haiku monument inscribed with a poem by Saiwai Mokuzen stands within the grounds of Matsuyamajinja in Iwaidani, Matsuyama. It can be viewed along with visiting the shrine.

Botchan Karakuri Clock

A mechanical clock in Hojoen plaza in front of Dogo Onsen Station. Installed in 1994 to mark the 100th anniversary of the main building of Dogo Onsen, characters from the novel Botchan appear on the hour. A free foot bath sits beside it.

Igetsuan

A haiku hermitage located on Shoninzaka in Dogo Yuzukicho. Completed in 2018, it is considered the fourth hermitage in Matsuyama, following Koshin-an, Gudabutsu-an, and Isso-an. It can be used for haiku gatherings and other events on a reservation basis.

A hamburg-steak specialist near Dogo Park, run directly by a butcher shop. Known for its foil-wrapped hamburg steak with red-wine garlic sauce.

Gian-ji Temple

A temple of the Soto sect located in Dogo Himetsuka. It is a temple associated with the Kono clan, said to have been founded by Kono Hikoshiro Yoshiyasu in 1539, and is an unofficial temple (bangai fudasho) of the Shikoku 88 Temple Pilgrimage.

Cosmo Pharmacy Dogo specializes in prescriptions from ophthalmologists. It also handles electronic prescriptions.

An outlet of the Terakoya group's Japanese general goods brand, in the Dogo Onsen district. It is in Dogo Yunomachi, Matsuyama, near Dogo Onsen Honkan.

Dogo Jinrikisha Ganso Kurumayasan

A sightseeing rickshaw departing from and arriving in front of Dogo Onsen Station. The oldest sightseeing rickshaw that first began operating in Shikoku in 1982.

Dogo BEER BAR (formerly Dogo Bakushukan)

A taproom directly managed by Minakuchi Shuzo, located opposite Dogo Onsen Honkan. "Dogo Bakushukan," which opened in 1996, was temporarily closed in May 2026 for renovation and is now operating as a shop serving Dogo Beer and local sake.

Shunzen Aoigoke

A Japanese restaurant inside the long-established ryokan Funaya. It serves dishes built around local produce in a refined room overlooking a Japanese garden.

Komihana Cafe Karari

A cafe in Dogo-machi selling handmade sweets and Ehime-produced foods. It is a local business that also employs people with disabilities.

Lady Drug Dogo Himata

A large drug store with a pharmacy. The drug store is open until 22:00. Parking for 45 cars is available. Food and daily necessities are also sold.

Seki Art Museum

A private art museum located in a residential area, a 5-minute walk from Dogo Onsen Station. It holds modern Japanese paintings and Rodin sculptures.

Yuagari Chaya

A rest area on the second floor of the ryokan Dogokan. After bathing, guests can have light dishes such as ramen, beer and jakoten (fried fish cake).

Poem Dogo Yunomachi

A directly run shop for the Ehime confection Poem (Bomu). Its wide range includes seasonal items, making it useful for choosing souvenirs.

Dogono Panya

Dougono Panya is a bakery located on the grounds of Dougono Oyado Iwasaki. It handles rice flour bread and offers freshly baked bread until sold out.

Dogo Onsen Annex Asuka-no-Yu

An annex of Dogo Onsen opened in 2017. A bathhouse incorporating the architectural style of the Asuka period, it features an open-air bath, a grand hall, and special bathrooms that recreate the Yushinden imperial bath chamber.

Croquette no Mitsuwa

Croquette no Mitsuwa is a takeout shop in the Dogo Onsen district. It offers fried foods such as croquettes and jaco katsu for visitors to eat while walking.

Umenoya

A restaurant and flower shop renovated from an old private house along the Ishite River. Opened on April 3, 2026. Fresh pasta lunches and the sale of flowers are conducted in the same building.

Shigematsu Seishinkyu In

A community-based acupuncture clinic near Dogo Onsen Station. There are variations in the name’s notation (common name: Shigematsu Yuki Shin’kyu-in).

Shokudo Meshiya

A lunch-only eatery in the Ishite area of Matsuyama, serving carefully handmade set meals in limited daily quantities.

Lawson Dogo Haikara-dori

Lawson Dogo Haikara-dori is a convenience store located along Haikara-dori. It can be visited during shopping street strolls.

Ehime no Shokutaku 1970

A shop in Dogo where Ehime-grown citrus juice can be poured from a tap. It offers around 20 varieties of straight citrus juice.

Hogon-ji Temple

A temple in Dogo said to be the birthplace of Ippen, founder of the Ji sect of Buddhism. The main hall was lost to fire in 2013 but was rebuilt in 2016.

Fuji Dogo

Fuji Dogo, a food supermarket in Dogomachi. It carries fresh produce, prepared dishes and drinks, and is useful for stocking up during a stay.

Dogo Koen Kitaguchi Parking

A coin parking lot with 11 spaces near the north entrance of Dogo Park.

New Dogo Music

A theater located in Dogo Yunomachi. It is the only surviving strip theater in Shikoku, holding performances with a system of clearing the audience between shows. Persons under 18 years of age are not admitted. During the day, an udon restaurant operates in the same building.

Dogo Shusse Inari Jinja Shrine

An Inari shrine located in the Dogo Onsen town area (Dogo Yunomachi, Matsuyama City). The worship hall, which had been demolished due to aging, was rebuilt in 2018.

Tsubaki-no-Yu

One of the external bathhouses of Dogo Onsen. A public bath cherished by locals, where you can enjoy the natural hot spring water along with Dogo Onsen Honkan and Asuka-no-Yu.

Okashi no Kanae

A Western confectionery shop in Mochida-machi. It sells cheesecake, macarons and a chocolate financier available only at weekends.

Il Positano

An Italian restaurant within Dogo Onsen, Il Positano. It uses ingredients from Shikoku’s sea and mountains and caters to lunch, cafe, and dinner.

Motsunabe Marusho

A beef offal hotpot specialist in Dogo Himata. Its signature motsunabe uses Japanese black beef; besides eating in, takeaway is available from 15:00 and frozen products are sold from a vending machine.

Masaoka Shiki Haiku Monument (Ishite-ji Temple Approach)

A haiku monument of Masaoka Shiki is located on the approach to Ishite-ji Temple, the 51st pilgrimage temple in Shikoku. It can be visited along with a visit to Ishite-ji Temple, known for its National Treasure, Nio-mon.

Yu no Yado Sachiya

Oyamazumi Jinja Shrine (Ishite)

Mausoleum of Matsudaira Sadayuki

The mausoleum of Matsudaira Sadayuki (1587–1668), the first lord of the Matsuyama Domain, located within the grounds of Joshin-ji Temple. It is a designated historic site of Ehime Prefecture. Sadayuki entered Matsuyama in 1635 (Kan'ei 12) and rebuilt the keep of Matsuyama Castle into three tiers.
