Mausoleum of Matsudaira Sadamasa
A mausoleum in Iwaidani-higashi-machi, Matsuyama, enshrining Matsudaira Sadamasa (1610–1673), the younger brother of Matsudaira Sadayuki, the first lord of the Matsuyama Domain. Sadamasa was stripped of his domain after becoming a Buddhist monk and thereafter lived in Matsuyama.
The Mausoleum of Matsudaira Sadamasa is a mausoleum located in Iwaidani Higashimachi, Matsuyama City. It enshrines Matsudaira Sadamasa, who was the younger brother of Matsudaira Sadayuki, the first lord of the Matsuyama Domain.
Matsudaira Sadamasa
Matsudaira Sadamasa (1610-1673) was a daimyo of the Mikawa Kariya Domain with 20,000 koku. In 1651 (1651), he was subjected to kaieki (attainder) because he criticized the shogunate government and shaved his head to become a Buddhist priest without permission. His family was entrusted to his older brother Sadayuki, and they lived in Matsuyama thereafter.
Located in the area of Iwaidani, slightly away from the Dogo Onsen town, it is a spot that conveys the history of the Matsudaira clan of the Matsuyama Domain.
