Yuzuki Castle Site Monument
A stone monument in Dogo Park. It conveys the site of Yuzuki Castle, where the Kono clan had its base for approximately 250 years in the Middle Ages. The castle site is a National Historic Site and one of Japan’s Top 100 Castles. Admission to the Yuzuki Castle Museum within the park is free.
The Yuzuki Castle Ruins Monument is a stone monument located in Dogo Park, which indicates that it is the site of Yuzuki Castle, a medieval castle that once stood on this land.
Yuzuki Castle
Yuzuki Castle was built around 1335 by the Kono clan, who was the shugo of Iyo Province. Thereafter, it served as the base of the Kono clan for about 250 years, but in 1585, it was attacked by forces such as Takakage Kobayakawa during Toyotomi Hideyoshi's campaign against Shikoku, and after a siege of about a month, the Kono clan surrendered. It was abandoned as a castle around 1587.
The castle ruins were developed as the prefectural Dogo Park in 1888, and after excavation investigations starting in 1988, samurai residences and earthen walls were woodenly reconstructed from 1998 to 2001. It was designated as a national historic site in 2002, and was also selected as one of the 100 Fine Castles of Japan (No. 80). Admission to the Yuzuki Castle Museum in the park is free (9:00-17:00, closed on Mondays).

Hogon-ji Temple
A temple in Dogo said to be the birthplace of Ippen, founder of the Ji sect of Buddhism. The main hall was lost to fire in 2013 but was rebuilt in 2016.

Yanagihara Kyokudo Haiku Monument
A haiku monument is located in Hojoen, in front of Dogo Onsen Honkan. It commemorates Ryu Hiroshi (1867–1957), a poet from Matsuyama. Ryu Hiroshi founded the literary magazine 'Hototogisu' in Matsuyama in 1897, and became the first honorary citizen of Matsuyama City.
