Funaya (Dogo Onsen Funaya) is a long-established ryokan located in Dogo Yunomachi, Matsuyama City. It is said to have been founded during the Kanei era (first half of the 17th century) in the early Edo period, making it one of the lodgings with a long history in Dogo Onsen.
It is also known as a lodging visited by literary figures associated with Dogo, such as Natsume Soseki and Masaoka Shiki, and items conveying their literary connections remain inside the building. Its seasonal Japanese garden, which incorporates a mountain stream, is famous and creates a calm atmosphere for your stay.
It is within walking distance of Dogo Onsen Honkan and Dogo Onsen Station, making it convenient as a base for strolling around the hot spring town.
Foot Bath
In the list of Dogo's hand baths and foot baths published by the Dogo Onsen Ryokan Cooperative Association, the usage hours for this ryokan's foot bath are stated as 12:00–20:30. It is one of the nine hand bath and foot bath locations in Dogo and can be used from daytime to nighttime. Please bring your own towel.
