Dogokan

A hot spring ryokan in Dogo known for its design by the architect Kisho Kurokawa. Japanese tradition and modern architecture are combined throughout.

Dogokan is a hot spring ryokan located in Dogo Takoucho, Matsuyama City, known as an accommodation designed by architect Kisho Kurokawa. Kisho Kurokawa (1934-2007) is known for works such as the Nakagin Capsule Tower Building and was one of the central figures of the "Metabolism" movement, which likened cities and architecture to living organisms that metabolize. At Dogokan, against the background of such design philosophy, the interior space is characterized by a fusion of traditional Japanese beauty and the sense of modern architecture.

Dogo Takoucho is an area east of Dogo Onsen Station, located close to both the bustle and tranquility of the hot spring resort. Dogo Onsen Honkan and Dogo Haikara-dori (shopping street) are also within walking distance, making it an easy-to-use base for visiting public baths and strolling around the town.
