Gyokusendo Honpo
A Japanese confectioner founded in 1882 (Meiji 15). It makes onsen senbei shaped like a hoju jewel, and the salted Gyokusendo Ushio.
"Gyokusendo Honpo" is a Japanese confectionery shop located in Dogo Yunomachi, close to Dogo Onsen Honkan and Dogo Haikara-dori. According to the Dogo Onsen Official Area Guide, it preserves the taste and shape from the time of its founding in 1882 and manufactures two types of crackers. "Onsen Senbei," shaped like a hoju, is sold by reservation only, and is characterized by a uniquely light texture and a faint sweetness. The other, "Gyokusendo Ushio," is slightly crunchier than Onsen Senbei and has a subtle salty taste. Business hours are from 10:00 to 18:00, closing as soon as products run out, and regular holidays are Sundays and national holidays. Located in the center of Dogo Onsen town, which is bustling with tourists, it is easy to stop by while strolling or choosing souvenirs.
