Dogo Onsen No.4 Bunyujo
A hot spring distribution facility that collects pumped spring water and sends it to each facility. Of the four hot spring distribution facilities in Dogo, this is the only facility where visitors can observe the water gathering, and it features a hand bath where you can touch the hot spring water of around 50 degrees.
Dogo Onsen No. 4 Bunyujo is a hot spring water distribution facility located in Dogo Yunomachi, Matsuyama City. A bunyujo refers to a facility that collects pumped-up hot spring source water and distributes it to various facilities such as public baths and ryokan.
The Only Bunyujo That Can Be Toured
There are four bunyujo in Dogo Onsen, but this No. 4 Bunyujo is the only one where you can view how the hot spring water is collected. The viewing room is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., all year round (it may temporarily close for major cleaning, etc.).
Highlights
In this bunyujo, hot spring water is collected from six sources in total: four located on the premises and two located a short distance away. Inside the viewing room, you can see the hot spring water flowing from five pipes lined up in front, and check the temperature of each source on the thermometers. On the right side of the building's front, there is a hand bath where you can touch the freshly pumped hot spring source water at around 50 degrees without any temperature adjustment.
To date, 29 hot spring sources have been developed in Dogo Onsen, and 19 are currently registered as hot springs with Ehime Prefecture. The temperatures vary, with the lowest being around 20 degrees and the highest around 55 degrees, and the bunyujo adjusts the water temperature by mixing them without heating or adding water.
Building and Access
It is a reinforced concrete, single-story building with a site area of 115.35 square meters and a building area of 39.2 square meters. It is located a 1-minute walk west of Dogo Onsen Station on the Iyo Railway. Since there is no parking, please visit using public transportation.

Dogo Inari Yunoya Dogo Honten
Dogo Inari Yunoya Dogo Honten is an inari sushi specialty shop in Dogo shopping street. It offers approximately fifteen kinds of original inari sushi in front of the Boy Chan Karakuri Clock.

A souvenir and confectionery shop in the Dogo Onsen district. It carries Ehime sweets such as Ichiroku tarts and Botchan dango, along with noodles and local sake.
Mori Motengai Haiku Monument
A haiku monument is located in Hojoen, in front of Dogo Onsen Honkan. It commemorates Mori Motengai (1864–1934), a politician and poet who served as the head of Dogo Yunomachi. He studied under Shiki and received the haiku name “Ten-gai.”
Dagashiya Charinko Dogo Onsen
A shop in the Dogo Onsen district specialising in dagashi, traditional inexpensive sweets. Its range, including sweets in appealing packaging, suits children and adults alike.
Kadoya Dogo Ekimae
Kadoya Dogo Ekimae is a restaurant near Dogo Onsen Station serving local cuisine. It featured tai-meshi and offered jakoten and Ehime sake.
Tsuboya Kashiho
A long-established Dogo confectioner founded in 1883 (Meiji 16), said to be the model for the dango shop in Soseki's Botchan. It sells the original Botchan dango and shoyu-mochi.
Cat Cafe Hinata no Mado
A cat cafe inside the arcade of the Dogo shopping street. Many of the cats are rescues, and visitors can spend time with them close to Dogo Onsen.
