Yamatoya Honten
A long-established ryokan founded in 1868 (Keio 4), standing right beside Dogo Onsen Honkan. It is built in the sukiya style in solid hinoki, has the Noh stage Senjuden, and serves dishes using Seto Inland Sea produce.
Yamatoya Honten is a long-established hot spring ryokan located next door to Dogo Onsen Honkan in Dogoyuno-cho, Matsuyama City. According to the official website, it was founded in 1868 and was newly built and restarted in the current building in 1996. Known for its Japanese design based on a sukiya-style construction made entirely of cypress, it is equipped with a Noh stage "Senjuden" inside, where performances such as Takigi-noh are sometimes held. It also features banquet halls, large meeting rooms, and a shop. For meals, dinner kaiseki incorporating seasonal Setouchi delicacies and breakfast buffet are prepared.
It is approximately a 5-minute walk from Dogo Onsen Station, and about 20 minutes by car from Matsuyama IC. As a base for touring public baths and strolling around Dogo Haikara-dori (shopping district), it is an inn where guests can experience both traditional Japanese culture and the waters of Dogo.
