Sakai Mokuzen Haiku Monument (Matsuyama Shrine)

The Sakai Mokunen Haiku Monument at Matsuyama Shrine is a haiku monument located in the precincts of Matsuyama Shrine in Iwaiyadanimachi, Matsuyama City. It is engraved with a haiku by Sakai Mokunen, a haiku poet associated with Matsuyama, and is one of the haiku monuments scattered throughout the city.
Matsuyama is known as a "city of haiku" that has produced many haiku poets, including Masaoka Shiki, and haiku monuments remain in various places such as shrines and parks. It can be viewed along with a visit to Matsuyama Shrine.

The mausoleum of Matsudaira Sadayuki (1587–1668), the first lord of the Matsuyama Domain, located within the grounds of Joshin-ji Temple. It is a designated historic site of Ehime Prefecture. Sadayuki entered Matsuyama in 1635 (Kan'ei 12) and rebuilt the keep of Matsuyama Castle into three tiers.
Matsuyama Toshogu (formerly Matsuyama Shrine)
A shrine in Iwaidani-higashi-machi, Matsuyama, enshrining Tokugawa Ieyasu and Sugawara no Michizane. In 2025 (Reiwa 7) it was renamed from its former name, Matsuyama Shrine, to Matsuyama Toshogu. Its shrine buildings are designated Tangible Cultural Properties of Ehime Prefecture.

A haiku monument is located in Hojoen, in front of Dogo Onsen Honkan. It commemorates Mori Motengai (1864–1934), a politician and poet who served as the head of Dogo Yunomachi. He studied under Shiki and received the haiku name “Ten-gai.”

Monument to the Merits of Isaniwa
A monument in Dogo Park. It honours Isaniwa Yukiya, the first mayor of Dogo Yunomachi, who led the 1894 (Meiji 27) rebuilding of Dogo Onsen Honkan. The Honkan is a nationally designated Important Cultural Property.
