Taiyoken

This is a popular diner located in Dogo Ichiman, Matsuyama City. According to an interview article on Ehime Prefecture's information website "Majime Ehime," it has been open for more than 50 years at this location and is currently run by the third-generation owner. According to an article in the Matsuyama Keizai Shimbun, the store was started by the first generation as a Western-style restaurant, and their child took over to run it as a Chinese restaurant, but closed in 2011 due to poor health. After that, a person who learned about the closure and the recruitment of a manager through the newspaper came forward, and the store reopened after renovation on November 4 of the same year. The store area is about 18 tsubo, and the number of seats is 46.

The signature dish is the "Gatsu Set Meal," which inherits the recipe from the first generation. It consists of stir-fried vegetables topped with pork belly and eaten with a sweet and spicy soy sauce-based sauce, and this sauce has been commercialized in response to requests. Other dishes include "Jumbo Katsu Curry," which is a large portion of curry topped with an egg yolk and a cutlet, and omurice using demi-glace sauce. Located close to Ehime University and Matsuyama University, it is used by students, workers, and nearby residents. As business hours and holidays may have changed, please check before visiting.
